Happy new year, and welcome back to this series of excerpts from my new Devil's Dictionary, a compendium of words and phrases (ab)used in Silicon Valley.
Ideal - (n)
That which a visionary exchanges for tenure.
Ideal Client Profile ICP - (n)
Conceptual tool used to showcase the limitations of the imagination of your team.
Ideate - (v)
How those unaccustomed to thinking imagine that others conceive of ideas.
Impact - (n)
Used synonymously for measurable effect and for performative affect.
Implement - (n)
A general purpose name for any tool whose actual name is not particularly important, like a whatchamacallit, a thingy, or that guy from Sales.
Implemented - (adj)
A descriptor for ideas that have been realized and are now in cue to be overridden by management.
In flight - (adj)
Associated with that brief period between the ground delays in two different airports.
